Simultaneous operation is possible only on the Windows version of QCapture, and can be performed by performing one of the following:
Method 1
- Two FireWire cards need to be installed into the computer. Although there are two ports available on a single FireWire card, each camera must be connected to a separate card. Two FireWire cables are required - one to connect each camera to each card.
- Only one copy of QCapture Suite needs to be installed on the computer.
- Run QCapture. A window will pop up prompting the selection of a camera. To run the cameras simultaneously, select one camera from the window prompt.
- Then run QCapture again - this time, QCapture will automatically select the second camera.
Method 2*
- Install QCapture Suite Version 2.64 or greater
- Either connect your cameras in a daicychain configuration or by connecting the two cameras to the same PCI card (ie using 2 of the 3 ports) and turn both cameras on
- Open QCapture and get one of the cameras working. The open QCapture a second time (you must have two QCapture application running to be able to use both cameras simultaneously) to gain access to the second camera.
- Begin previewing.
*Using this method requires that you do not use the full bandwidth of the Firewire with one camera, otherwise the second camera may not operate as expected. Also, it is recommended that both cameras are supplied with external power connections as the motherboard of some computers are not sufficient enough to power two cameras simultaneously. Laptop computers especially require additional power.
