Surrey, Canada — QImaging® is pleased to introduce the Rolera-MGi Plus digital camera. The Rolera-MGi Plus is an exciting new version of the popular Rolera-MGi, which was the world’s first camera to unite EMCCD technology and FireWire connectivity for ultra-low-light dynamic fluorescence imaging applications. The high-speed, high-sensitivity Rolera-MGi Plus was co-developed by the engineering teams of the newly formed Microimaging Applications Group™ (MAG), a technology partnership that includes QImaging and several other leaders in the imaging industry.
The Rolera-MGi Plus utilizes a back-illuminated, 512x512-pixel EMCCD from e2v Technologies in order to deliver high-sensitivity imaging for spinning-disk confocal microscopy applications. The Rolera-MGi Plus can also be used to acquire high-resolution images for voltage potentials, dynamic ratio imaging (e.g., pH and low-concentration flux), fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), and live-cell fluorescent protein imaging.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the MAG engineering teams, the Rolera-MGi Plus offers a number of improvements over its high-performance predecessor, the Rolera-MGi. The new camera features EM gain stability to deliver better quantitation, as well as state-of-the-art electronics that allow it to achieve sub-electron read noise when imaging at lower EM gain. Built-in “anti-aging technology” greatly extends the lifetime of the camera’s EMCCD, while FPGA-based technology supports potential future upgrade paths. Furthermore, the use of the PVCAM® application programming interface (API) provides instant camera compatibility with many advanced imaging software packages. The Rolera-MGi Plus can be operated on computers running Windows® 2000/XP, Windows Vista (32 bits), and Mac OS X.
